U.S. Wholesale Revenue Sets New High in 2016
Alexandria, VA – June 7, 2017 – The International Sleep Products Association (ISPA), the trade association representing mattress manufacturers and component suppliers, has released its 2016 Mattress Industry Trends Report. The report publishes comprehensive current and historical data on the mattress industry’s performance.
“This year’s report shows that the industry continues to grow, with the 2016 wholesale value of mattresses and foundations made and sold in the United States increasing 3.4% from 2015, a new record for the industry,” noted ISPA President Ryan Trainer. “For over 100 years, ISPA has not only been the source for industry statistics, but we are always looking for ways to improve the data we publish. I am happy to report that this year, we have refined our import and export data. In the past, the official government statistics we used included shipments of both animal and human beds. Beginning this year, ISPA has persuaded U.S. Customs and Border Protection to exclude pet beds and focus only on human-size products.”
The 2016 report is packed with the most comprehensive and accurate sales information available to the mattress industry. It helps ISPA members, mattress retailers and those in the financial sector track key business trends and make important commercial and investment decisions.
The useful industry information that ISPA publishes includes a 20-year history of wholesale units, dollars and average unit prices for mattresses and foundations sold in the United States; regional sales data breakouts; mattress-size trends; price point analyses; household consumption analyses; contract sales; data on econometric factors that influence the industry; commentary on industry issues and a world mattress report prepared by the Centre of Industrial Studies (CSIL). The report also includes valuable information retailers can use to help their stores remain competitive in today’s dynamic and challenging global marketplace.
The Annual Report is one part of ISPA’s statistical program. ISPA’s other statistical reports include:
- Bedding Market Quarterly (a quarterly report on mattress and foundation shipments)
- Mattress Industry Forecast (a semi-annual forecast of industry shipments)
